(Update 05/07/2017):The Nokia 6 will get a price cut in the UK starting 2nd August. The phone is said to be offered SIM-free and with no contracts at a new, lower price of £220. The device is the third and last in line of a UK sale for Nokia devices starting on 12th July.
(Update 27/06/2017): Five months after its original release in China, the Nokia 6 is finally arriving in the US. The phone will go on sale in early July and will be available for $229.
(Update 28/02/2017): It is confirmed that the Nokia 6 will feature Google's Assistant and will launch with Android 7.1.1 Nougat installed. Nokia have also promised to keep a "stock OS" with regular updates and monthly security patches for the device.
(Update 27/02/2017): Nokia and HMD Global have announced that the Nokia 6 will become available worldwide during Q2 2017. It will come in four colours (silver, matt black, copper, tempered blue) and will have a price tag of €229 (equivalent to £195/$240).
A limited edition Nokia 6 Arte Black will also be available. The device, priced at €299 (£255/$315), will ship with 64GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM, compared to 32GB and 3GB of the original Nokia 6.
(Update 26/01/2017): The Nokia 6 has finally left China. The device is now up for sale in the Philippines. The smartphone may be making its way to more Asian countries in the near future, however it is still unclear whether it will be available in Europe.
(Update 19/01/2017): The smartphone has now gone on sale in China. Potential customers around the world will have to wait until the Mobile World Congress in February to find out if Nokia are looking to release the device worldwide.
(Update 17/01/2017): Despite only being available for pre-order, the Nokia 6 has proved to be a very popular device. The mid-range smartphone gained 100,000 pre-orders in just 24 hours after becoming available, as well as 250,000 registrations. Now, the phone has exceeded one million registrations. To register, customers had to pay a small fee which would be deducted when purchasing the device therefore, while this does not mean that the Nokia 6 has a million pre-orders, the number may be very close.
The Nokia 6 has been revealed and will be coming to the market shortly. Unfortunately, however, the smartphone will only be available in China.
Reports have emerged stating that the Nokia 6 may come to Europe after all. Allegedly, Nokia will reveal an international model during the upcoming MWC event on 26th February.
The Nokia 6 will come with Android Nougat 7.0 pre-installed.
The phone comes with a simple, yet sleek design. It has a black, fully aluminium body that is complemented by a 2.5D glass display.
Screen and Cameras
The screen is 5.5-inches with a 1080p resolution. It is protected by Gorilla Glass and features the aforementioned 2.5D display. The phone’s rear camera is 16MP, while the front shooter is 8MP; both coming with an f/2.0 aperture.
Specification and Features
The handset comes with a mid-range specification. It runs on a Snapdragon 430 SoC, clocked at 1.4 GHz, that comes with an Adreno 505 graphics processing unit. It has a decent 32GB of storage, paired with 3GB of RAM. The device is powered by a relatively large 3000mAh battery. It also sports a fingerprint scanner embedded into the home button.
The device will be on sale in China for ¥1700 (equivalent to $245/£200/€230).
